Nerd Alert!

Tuesday afternoon Kaylee came home from school with a 3rd grade math workbook (she is just finishing up 2nd grade). I guess the teacher told the kids they could look it over during the summer or something.

Without even stopping for a snack, Kaylee found a pencil and some scratch paper and sat right down to get to work. She closed the book like an hour later. Seriously?! Who is this kid?

By the way, she finished out the year with all A's (what a surprise!) AND perfect attendance for the entire year. Way to go, Kaylee!!!

Nine Months

Darling baby passed 9 months last week. Weighed in at 18 lbs 3 oz and measured 28 in (I think, I didn't write things down until I got home from the appointment, but whatever, none of you care too much about her exact size anyway).

Here are some odds and ends about her:

hates all vegetables
likes vanilla yogurt, baby puffs, yogurt melts, Cheerios, and most fruits (especially bananas)
loves to laugh
crawls all over the place
really wants to pull up on things, but still figuring it out and getting the whole balance thing mastered
adores her sisters
not the most easy-going baby, but we still love her :)
when she's mad her eyebrows turn red (it's really funny)

And here she is . . .

Here are the other girls at the same age, if you'd like to compare . . .

(she seriously had amazing hair)

Piano Recital

Kaylee had her very first piano recital this morning (she started lessons in January). She's doing very well and we hope she'll keep it up for many, many years to come!

Here's the video for interested grandparents:

You're OK, Mom.

Mother's Day is so fun when you have school-age kids, because they all come home with special gifts they've made.

Ashlyn's kindergarten actually invited the mother's to come to their classroom Friday afternoon for a Mother's Day celebration.

We got to sit with them at tables they had decorated, then they showed us all the cards and pictures and gifts they worked on for us. We had a yummy little snack, then they painted our fingernails for us. (I think I fared much better than some of the other kindergarten mothers in terms of Ashlyn's paint job on my nails.)

The pinkish board is a key holder Ashlyn made for me.
The picture she drew of us says "YOUROKMOM", which Russ initially interpreted as "You're OK, Mom", but it's actually "You Rock, Mom".

And here are some excerpts from the book Ashlyn made me:

(Translations: favorite food - spaghetti, best thing - she likes to hug me)

Brenna made me the most adorable little flower pot in preschool - I LOVE it!

Kaylee also filled out a Mother's Day questionnaire in school.

I'm one lucky Mommy, to have such sweet, thoughtful girls
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
