Walton Family Fun

Ashlyn's baptism day was the official transition from our week with the Burnetts to our week with the Waltons.

Day 8: Saturday, June 27 - Ashlyn's baptism in the morning, luncheon for everyone at the Walton home, picnic at the park for dinner

While at the grocery store Russ passed by these frozen juices that used
to be a special treat when we were poor BYU students.
Bocce Ball!
Adam decorated Gran's burger with a ketchup smiley face, and Nate entertained us with his ukulele.

Nate & Adam thrilled the kids by setting off their homemade candy cannon.
Grandkids enjoying their spoils.
Gran sent my Aunt Trini searching for all the stray candy pieces.
Day 9: Sunday, June 28 - Church in the morning, dinner with everyone in the evening

Day 10: Monday, June 29 - tea party for the younger kids & Harry Potter party for the older ones, family history FHE presented by Grandma & Grandpa

Ashlyn likes to play "Shoulder Angel" with anyone who is willing.
For Mother's Day Linda and I had promised to take Gran out to lunch some
day when we were both visiting. We had a great time!
Dipping and decorating our Harry Potter pretzel wands.
Trying hard to discern her Bertie Bott's bean flavors.
Pretzel wands and butterbeer.

Tea party for the 5 and under crowd.
If you let McKell play on your tablet she will be your friend. And if she doesn't take a nap she may crash during the FHE lesson.

And apparently Linda can attract really big bugs.
Day 11: Tuesday, June 30 - nostalgic visit to BYU, "Paddington" movie party

Re-enacting our 1st kiss in the precise location where it occurred. So romantic, right?
Gooooooo COUGARS!!!
Nate & Kristine planned an awesome "Paddington" movie party that included  "Going on a Bear Hunt", learning about darkest Peru while walking around the neighborhood, and singing "The other day . . . I met a bear . . . "
We split into 3 teams and had to design a system for getting an orange to travel from the kitchen
to a target area on the far side of the livingroom.

Adorable bear snacks served in paper hats and creative edible umbrellas.

Slip n slide fun outside.

Gourmet sandwich bar for dinner.
And since the movie is set in London . . . "fish & chips"!
Day 12: Wednesday, July 1 - spent the day at the Dalton (Adam's in-laws) cabin in Provo canyon, hiked up Bridal Veil Falls

Day 13: Thursday, July 2 - horseshoes at the park with Grandpa, swimming at the Provo Rec Center, and watching "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the outdoor SCERA Shell theater

Grandpa's vacation would be a disappointment if he didn't get in at least one good game of horseshoes.

We LOVE the Provo Rec Center and wish we had something similar back home in Bryan. :(
The girls had so much fun at the play (and so did I!).
Day 14: Friday, July 3 - big breakfast, family birthday party, Grandma & Grandpa parade, s'mores on the grill, baseball game & fireworks (we flew home on the 4th, so we treated the 3rd as our holiday)

Games at the birthday party - Oink, Piggy, Oink and Water in the Face
When we were young my parents realized we only liked going to parades because of the candy thrown there. So after that we started holding our own family parades, which consisted of my parents marching around and throwing candy at the 4 of us.

Our team rallied in the 9th inning, but was too far to behind at that point to pull out the win.
Day 15: Saturday, July 4 - home to Texas

We had such a wonderful vacation and were truly sad to see it end. Nearly every day since McKell has asked me when we can go back on "bacation". Not soon enough, little girl. :(
